My husbands' dad is in rehab recovering from his surgery. They had to remove a part of his leg and now he is learning to balance and get strong enough for a leg fitting and go home. This is going to take some time....how long we do not know. My mother in law is alone in Florida...her family are all in New York. So my husband thought we should go down for Thanksgiving Day. I have never missed a Thanksgiving Day with my family since I can remember. So I think this year is a cornerstone of some kind. We leave Thursday 6 am from JFK and come home Saturday night around midnight. Doris made reservations for a nice turkey lunch.
My husband has two modes....drinking or sick because he is not drinking...neither is a treat or pretty sight but I'll take sick everytime. Anyway he has been sick and quiet for about 6-8 weeks and then they went and made him foreman on the job...a job better handled by his partner ..but it was his turn and.for some reason this put him into a tizzy.....plus they had to work all weekend, very long hours, I know its really hard work not alot of fun. But why should this make a grown man run after his tail, talk blabber and end up wanting to chew on his own leg? Believe me, I wish I was dreaming....it scares me to death. In fact this always sends me running into the basement for retreat....like I was under a nuclear attack . I have a T.V., love seat, water and there is also a bed and bathroom. Our dog is so cute, she comes running after me as fast as her feet can take her....she jumps on the love seat, spins around, settles down and lets out a big sigh of relief. I hear you doggy girl!!
I have mixed feeling about this trip...I'm hoping that my husband will be sick at least for his parents. He is crazy about his family....mom, dad, his sister and brother and their children. The good part is we are staying with his mom. Whatever, I know the routine.....don't dread a day....just let it be ...know that our time is in His hands and before you know it, we'll be back home. George is a remarkable man...when he was counted out many years ago...he got up again.....and now we are all praying that he does it again. My money is on Him.
