My friends 27 year old daughter did not wake up on Monday November 20, 2006. A world turned up side down. She was a wife and mother of two. She had grown up with my daughter on the same block with other children. What fun we had!! They would sleep over each other homes. I was friends with the other 3 moms and we always worked things out.
Their kids were safe with me and my daughter was safe with them. They were 6 girls and 1 boy in all. In the summer we would sit on the stoop and talk the night away as they played and made alot of noise - they made music, really. Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades - The Ice Capades - Trips into the city - look at the tree and light candles at St Patricks, birthday parties , bbq's , days at the beach .... The summer of 2005, four of them had babies from the end of May through the end of July - 3 girls and 1 boy (the boy had the boy!!!).
My granddaughter was born that June. New babies - new moms and new grandmoms - so much joy!! Four baby showers, four christenings - the plans we made!! Then Monday November 20 my daughter called me, telling me that they could not wake her up - her sister had called to tell my daughter they could not wake her up. They could not wake her up...my dear friend is unconsolable ...I wish I had some words of wisdom but I was speechless - and I still am.... Broken hearts and so many tears all around...
I know the Lord has a good plan for us all, but I only have my small human brain and mind to make sense of it - its hard, much too hard right now...so hard it hurts to think.... Tell someone you love them - do it today and tomorrow and everyday, when ever you remember-- and please forgive your sister, your parents, neighbor, the drunk in your life, your kids, your boss, the fool on the train or on the road., at the grocer.... that's all I have to say.
